MESSAGE IN A BOTTLE FOUND IN PORTUGALIn June 2021, a teenager from Portugal discovered a bottle with a message inside. He has found out that the bottle came from nearly 4000 km away in Rhode Island, the USA. Christian Santos, 17, was fishing in the Azores, which is a small Portuguese island in the North Atlantic Ocean. While fishing, he saw a plastic bottle and noticed there was a message inside. Santos’ mother, Molly Santos, posted a photo of the note on Facebook asking for others to share the post. (19) ……….. . “I think it would be so great if Christian could meet the person who wrote it,” she said. In March 2018, a bottle was found on a beach in Australia that is believed to be 131 years old. The person who picked it up could not understand it, because it was written in a foreign language. (20) …….. . They reviewed old records and found out that a captain had written that the bottle was thrown into the sea in 1886! Previously, the oldest message found in a bottle was written in 1906, which was found in 2015. |
